I'm listening to a radio show about women who ran soup kitchens during the miner's strike in 1984. I've mentioned before how palpable that history seems to be here, even though it was 20 years ago. It seems to have changed these communities in ways that still haven't fully taken hold.

And speaking of politics, with the election here and a possible looming one at home, it's enough to make you stop reading the news...and then there's the analysis of what's on W's i-pod.
