connections
Yikes, 48 hours of no Internet (aaaahhhh!)...good to have it back.
Times like these help me answer the question of "why bother integrating technology into live performance?" - just the intensity of the feeling of disconnection when it doesn't work leads me to think that there is rich material there. Not necessarily about the technology itself, except for what it makes possible....and what we invest in it.
We had an amazing workshop with Troika Ranch ...all the things I so appreciate - generous, open, creative, clear, time to play...so important!
I also went to Sheffield to see Forced Entertainment's "Bloody Mess" . And it was. Exactly like watching something go all to hell. Very funny and brave. A little long, but that was part of it too - the timelessness of a disaster (like those "trainwreck in slow-motion" projects)! The ordinariness was also striking - just typical day-to-day "what a bloody mess". Easy to relate to.... ;-)

I'm really interested by the durational performances - about the ability to BORE as opposed to entertain... to change the relationship between the audience and the spectacle into one where the audience is forced to make choices.
