useful redundancies
Today I sat in on a presentation by composer/sound artist Matthew Burtner. Some new music i could listen to (most of it), which indicates a positive step in my programme of "learning to love noise" - not easy for me.
A couple of neat ideas: multiple-path scoring - a sort of "choose your own adventure" composition; remember performance "bandwidth" - i.e., only so many things one can do at one time, so don't make too many buttons and triggers; and, if you're doing stuff without someone at the desk, build redundancies into your interface (give yourself alternate exits). Some good tips. I really like the idea of useful redundancies.
